Framer form submissions go wherever you tell the form to send them. A native Framer form can send each submission to one or more email addresses, to a Google Sheet or to a webhook that passes the data to another tool. If you set no destination, or a template's form still points at the demo address, enquiries will not reach you, so check the form's settings and send a test before every launch.
Questions such as "where do Framer form submissions go" and "Framer form submission failed" are common searches, and for good reason. A form that looks fine but sends nowhere is one of the most expensive mistakes on a small business site, because nobody tells you it is broken.
Where can a Framer form send submissions?
According to Framer's help centre, native forms can send submissions to email, Google Sheets or a custom webhook, and they include built-in spam protection and rate limiting.
| Destination | What happens | Good for |
|---|
| Email | Each submission arrives as an email | Most small businesses |
| Google Sheets | Each submission becomes a row in a sheet | Tracking enquiries, sharing with a team |
| Webhook | Framer sends the data as JSON to a URL you choose | Sending leads to a CRM or automation tool |
You can use more than one destination at once, for example email for speed and a sheet for a record. For webhooks, Framer's documentation says the data is sent with the input names as keys, your endpoint must return a success response and Framer retries failed requests several times. See Framer's webhook guide.
How do you set up email notifications?
- Select the form on the canvas.
- In the right sidebar, click "Add..." next to "Send To".
- Choose email and enter the address that should receive enquiries.
- Set a clear subject line, such as "New enquiry from the website".
- Publish the site.
- Submit the form on the live site and check the email arrives.
Use an address someone checks every day, ideally on your own domain rather than a personal inbox, so it survives staff changes. If enquiries go to a shared inbox, make sure everyone knows who replies.
Why are template forms often "demo-safe"?
Many templates ship with forms that deliberately send nowhere, or open a pre-filled email, so that test submissions from people browsing the demo do not reach anyone. Several getsites templates say this on their pages. Half Light Film and Stonefold ship their contact and enquiry forms demo-safe, Selvedge's order form ships demo-safe, MARROW's enquiry form opens a pre-filled email, and Late August's reservation form ships in demo mode. In each case, connecting the form to your own address is the first setup step.
If you use any template, assume the form needs connecting until you have tested it.
Why does a Framer form fail or not arrive?
Common causes:
- No destination set, or the demo destination is still in place
- A typo in the email address
- The email went to spam. Check the spam folder and mark it as safe
- The site was not republished after changing form settings
- A required field the visitor cannot see or fill on a phone
- The webhook endpoint returned an error or redirect
- A third-party embed form, not a native Framer form, with its own settings
If the form shows an error message on submit, test again in a private browser window and on a phone to see whether the problem is the form or the device.
What should a contact form ask?
Fewer fields usually mean more submissions. Ask only what you need to reply well:
- Name and email
- Phone, if you will call
- One or two trade-specific questions, such as the date for an event, the subject for a tutor or the treatment for a clinic
- A message box
Label each field clearly. Labels help everyone, including people using screen readers. See our website accessibility checklist.
How do you test a form before launch?
- Submit every form on the live site from a phone.
- Submit again from a computer.
- Check each submission arrives at the right destination.
- Check the spam folder.
- Check the success message shows after submitting.
- Reply to the test as you would to a customer.
Repeat after any change to the form or the site's domain. This step is also in our Framer template launch checklist.
Which getsites templates have forms ready to connect?
Most getsites templates include at least one form, such as a contact, enquiry, booking, join or application form, and every one needs your destination before launch. If you are handing a site to a client, set the form to the client's inbox and test it with them. See how to hand over a Framer site to a client and browse all templates.

Frequently asked questions
Where do Framer form submissions go?
To the destinations set in the form's settings: email, Google Sheets or a webhook. If none is set, or a template's demo setting is still in place, submissions will not reach you.
Why is my Framer form not sending emails?
Check that an email destination is set and spelled correctly, that you republished after changing it, and that the email is not in spam. Then submit a test on the live site.
Can Framer forms send to Google Sheets?
Yes. Framer's native forms can send submissions to a Google Sheet, alongside or instead of email.
Can I connect a Framer form to my CRM?
Use a webhook destination pointing at your CRM or an automation tool that accepts webhooks. Framer sends the submission data as JSON.
Do Framer forms have spam protection?
Framer says its native forms include built-in spam protection and rate limiting. Some spam may still get through, so check submissions before acting on them.
