To set up a business domain name and email, buy a domain that matches your business name, connect it to your website host, then add an email service such as Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or Zoho Mail and point the domain's mail records to it. Website builders and email providers are usually separate, so expect to configure both. Framer's pricing page, checked 29 October 2026, said a complimentary domain is included on yearly Basic and Pro plans, but Framer does not list email hosting among its plan features.
A professional address such as [email protected] looks more trustworthy than a free webmail address, and owning the domain means you keep your address if you change website builder.
How do you choose a domain name?
- Match the business name as closely as you can.
- Keep it short and easy to spell when said aloud.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers unless they are part of the name.
- Choose the extension your customers expect: a country extension such as .co.uk or .in for a local business, or .com for wider reach.
- Check trademarks and that the matching social handles are free.
- Register it in the business's name, with an email address you control.
Where should you buy the domain?
You can buy it through a domain registrar or, on some plans, through your website builder. Either works. What matters is that the domain is registered to you or your business, that you can log in to manage it and that auto-renew is on. Losing a domain because a renewal email went to an old address is a common and avoidable problem. Check the renewal price as well as the first-year price, since some registrars and plans discount only the first year. Keep the registrar login in a password manager the business controls.
How do you connect a domain to a Framer site?
- Upgrade the site to a paid Framer plan. Framer's pricing page says connecting a custom domain needs a paid plan.
- In the site's settings, add your domain.
- Framer shows the DNS records to add.
- Log in to your registrar and add those records.
- Wait for the change to take effect, which can take from minutes to a day or so.
- Publish and check that both the bare domain and the www version load your site.
If you bought the domain through Framer, it may connect automatically. Follow Framer's current instructions in its help centre.
How do you set up business email?
Your website host and your email provider are usually different services. The steps are broadly the same for each provider:
- Sign up with an email provider and choose your domain.
- Verify that you own the domain, usually by adding a TXT record at your registrar.
- Add the provider's MX records, which tell the internet where to deliver your mail.
- Add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records the provider gives you. These help your emails reach inboxes instead of spam.
- Create the addresses you need.
- Send and receive a test email from an outside account.
Add mail records without deleting the website records, and the reverse. Changing one should not break the other.
Which email addresses should a small business have?
| Address | Use |
|---|
| hello@ or info@ | General enquiries, shown on the website |
| yourname@ | Personal address for each person |
| bookings@ or orders@ | Where form submissions and booking emails go |
| accounts@ | Invoices and suppliers |
Many providers let you add aliases, extra addresses that deliver to an existing inbox, which keeps costs down for a small team.
What are SPF, DKIM and DMARC?
They are DNS records that help prove email really comes from your domain:
- SPF lists which services may send mail for your domain.
- DKIM adds a signature to each email so receivers can check it was not altered.
- DMARC tells receivers what to do with mail that fails those checks.
Without them, your emails, including replies to website enquiries, are more likely to land in spam. Large mailbox providers have tightened their requirements for senders in recent years, so set all three.
What are common domain and email mistakes?
- The domain registered to a former web designer or employee
- Auto-renew turned off, or the card on file expired
- Website forms sending to a personal free webmail address
- No SPF, DKIM or DMARC
- MX records deleted when connecting the website
- The bare domain working but not the www version, or the reverse

Frequently asked questions
Does Framer include email hosting?
Framer's pricing page does not list email hosting among its plan features. Use a separate email provider and connect it to your domain.
Do I get a free domain with Framer?
Framer's pricing page, checked 29 October 2026, says a complimentary domain is included on yearly Basic and Pro plans. Check the current terms, including renewal pricing, before relying on it.
Can I use my website domain for email?
Yes. Sign up with an email provider, verify the domain and add the provider's MX, SPF and DKIM records at your registrar.
Will changing website builder affect my email?
Not if you only change the website records. Keep the MX and other mail records in place when you point the domain at a new website host.
Should my domain be .com or a country extension?
A country extension suits a business serving one country. A .com suits wider reach. Many businesses register both and redirect one to the other.
